Spotlight on CSI & IMQ

Wednesday, 14 November 2018

The Italian CSI, IMQ Group Company, is one of the exhibitors of Intertraffic Mexico. We spoke with Massimo Cucchietti, Infrastructure & Mobility Operating Sector Manager at CSI Automotive Division, about their company, their newest innovations, and their opinion about Intertraffic.

According to Mr Cucchietti: “CSI and IMQ, IMQ Group Companies, are the most important Italian certification bodies, European leaders in conformity assessment (safety, quality, sustainability). CSI and IMQ have one major goal: to enhance quality in product development and mobility testing certification. CSI is notified body for CE marking of Road Restraint System, Acoustic barriers, connectivity systems, and several other products.”

We asked Mr Cucchietti about the products and innovations of CSI & IMQ: “CSI operates widely in the field of safety both of vehicles than of road infrastructures, providing product certification services also in the field of road restraint systems, vertical signals and systems for the connectivity between vehicles and infrastructures. CSI commitment is also aimed at participation in the technical working groups, whose goal is to identify the safety performance requirements for vehicles and infrastructures of the future, developing test protocols for the most advanced passive safety systems and active safety (ADAS - Advance Driver Assistance Systems). The IMQ Group has been developing test areas to cover real scenarios, with simulations and tests based on the technical analysis of the applicable regulatory framework and with the issue of test certificates in compliance with the principle of repeatability and correctness of the measurement carried out.“

When asked about the view of CSI & IMQ on the developments in the industry Mr Cucchietti stated: “The application of new technologies in road infrastructure will have to guarantee the production of products, which must be more and more safe, technological and sustainable. Safe because they must not endanger the safety of all road users, above all of the vulnerable road user, such as motorcyclists and cyclists when they suffer an accident. Technological because they must incorporate different technological applications, which will allow the road users improve the customer experience on your journey and the administration and the concessionaires to manage the incidents on the roads and highways more quickly and efficiently. Sustainable because the market is becoming more and more affected by these arrangements: demands for eco-friendly products are growing and industries are challenged to preserve resources while producing new products.”

According to Mr Cucchietti “The World Health Organization ranks Mexico among the countries with the highest number of road crashes. For this reason, Mexico urgently needs resources to meet plans, programs, and projects that work to improve road safety. The IMQ Group, active subject in the technical working groups for the development of test protocols, with over twenty years of experience in testing and virtual analysis, can provide road infrastructure producers with all the expertise and cutting-edge tools to produce safer and up-to-date products. CSI and IMQ innovation can create a bridge between the builders of this continent and international drivers, supporting them to develop safe products and to spread the concept of real quality based on evidence.”

Concluding Mr Cucchietti stated: “Intertraffic represents for the IMQ Group the world-leading event for infrastructure and smart mobility. This fair, in its different location all over the world, allows the group to get in touch with manufacturers and their application for certification of products for the various countries to which they apply.
