Within a couple of weeks Intertraffic Mexico will take place, we spoke to Roberto Impero of SMA Road Safety. They are exhibiting at the upcoming edition of Intertraffic Mexico at Centro Citibanamex
Mr Impero is the chief executive officer at SMA Road Safety. We asked SMA to introduce the company. Mr Impero stated: “SMA manufactures and supplies solutions are designed to save lives. They set the roadside safety systems comprises crash cushions and end terminals, and monitoring systems designed to alert the police in case of an accident.” The production of SMA Road Safety is located in Marcianise, Italy, and it is distributed globally.
In 2018 SMA Road Safety introduced their newest innovation, the SMA HERCULUS. Mr Impero explained what his newest innovation is and what it entails:” The SMA HERCULUS is a non-Gating Crash Cushion designed to absorb impacts of pickup trucks over 2000 kg mass, as indicated in the new US Standard MASH. It differs from other similar products because of its short sizes. The model for the speed class TL3 (100 km/h) is only 5,900 mm long and is connected to the SMArt System, which permits to manage the installed products on the national territory.”
Innovation and development are really important within the traffic industry. Mr Impero: “Recently the Road Safety sector has been integrated with Information Technologies. It will permit the development of innovative solutions to protect and analyze the traffic safety situation on a specific road. I think in the next future roadside safety systems will communicate with the Road and Maintenance Managers.”
We asked Mr Impero how the products of SMA Road Safety can help to make Mexico City a better city. He stated: “ Mexico City roads present a lot of risks and hazards for the car drivers. The city needs Crash Cushions and End Terminals to protect fixed obstacles besides the roads. The most important thing is to help the Road Administration to understand that the installation of such systems is an investment for the future before being an expensive but mandatory operation.”
According to Mr Impero, Intertraffic Mexico is the most important South American exhibition event. This year it is the third time that SMA exhibits at Intertraffic Mexico. Since the beginning, it is a successful event for SMA Road Safety.
