Martin van Oosten is an Associate Director and Team Lead for Sustainable Transport Planning at Arup in the Netherlands, with over twenty years of experience in transport planning, mobility strategy and integrated infrastructure projects. Trained as an urban and transport planner, Martin works at the interface of spatial planning, mobility and public policy, supporting clients in delivering more sustainable, safe and resilient transport systems.

He has led and contributed to a wide range of complex, multidisciplinary projects at local, regional and national scale, from long-term mobility visions and policy development to detailed technical studies and implementation. His work focuses on enhancing accessibility, road safety, climate resilience and modal shift, with particular expertise in public transport, cycling infrastructure, traffic management and mobility systems for urban development.

Martin has extensive experience working with public authorities, including municipalities, provinces and national governments, and regularly operates in high-stake environments with strong societal impact. He is a certified road safety auditor and has acted as project manager on major programmes related to sustainable mobility, infrastructure renewal and smart transport systems, always with a pragmatic, evidence-based and implementable approach.
