Programme focus

The programme focuses on user experiences, strategies, trends and intelligent technology enabling smart traffic, smart vehicles, seamless travelling and sustainable transport and addresses innovative technology improving urban parking, road safety, road infrastructure and smart and liveable cities.

Do you have an interesting idea for a session or demonstration and does it cover one or more of the themes and challenges mentioned below, then please submit your summit proposal(s). You can do that here

1 | Digital infrastructure and safe & climate-resilient roads

A new road revolution is upon us as the reality of autonomous cars comes closer. AI and sensors built into vehicles will power this new technology and enables communicating with other vehicles and with smart road infrastructure. How can we best anticipate these developments and adapt road markings, smart signs, wireless communication and cyber security needed for this road and digital infrastructure? How do we maintain the quality of our assets and keep our roads safe? And how do we construct and install climate-resilient roads and roadside equipment?

2 | Efficient, safe and sustainable ways to guide traffic

Emerging technologies, digitalisation, multimodality and smart infrastructures are having a huge impact on traffic management. Which ITS tools can best help road operators manage their network in the most efficient, safe and environmentally friendly way? How do we connect roads to vehicles? How do we keep our traffic flowing and our cities accessible? How can we exchange traffic management data and guarantee smart routing for all road users? And how do we reduce emissions and measure environmental impacts?

3 | Autonomous driving and customizing mobility services

The mobility sector is aiming for a transport system that is resilient, resource-efficient, climate and environmentally friendly, safe and seamless. This will benefit citizens, the economy and society. A successful future depends on serving users in the way they expect, utilising new technologies. Connectivity and automation will bring considerable economic gains for users such as driver comfort and access to other modes of transport. How can smart solutions reconcile growing mobility needs? How do we enhance big data technologies and stimulate data exchange to ensure seamless and interoperable mobility services? And how do we make sure everyone has access to mobility and can afford mobility services?

4 | Vision Zero and optimizing asset management

Achieving safety and mobility objectives and developing technologies which focus on road safety and reduce the number of traffic accidents and injuries, creating safe drivers, safe vehicles and safe infrastructure, that is what Vision Zero is all about. New in-vehicle technologies influence the way we will use our cars; it will influence both road safety as well as the vehicle’s comfort. And well-maintained, high-quality infrastructure that makes use of advanced technologies and best practices are vital to ensuring the safety of all road users. How do we achieve our safety & mobility objectives?
What are best policy and technology options to keep our roads safe? And how do we optimize incident management to restore traffic flow?

5 |  Smart parking management, seamless parking experiences

Next generation parking technology optimises parking space usage, improves the efficiency of parking operations and helps urban traffic flow more freely and also creates safe and liveable cities. This goes for on-street parking and enforcement, to help authorities reduce costs and deliver a hassle-free driver experience as well as for off-street car parking, to help car park operators to run their business more smoothly. Smart parking systems to help drivers find economical parking spaces and use phone-enabled automated payment solutions and low-cost sensors to reduce vehicle overcrowding in cities and pollution levels. What are the latest parking solutions available? How do we create a seamless customer parking experience? How do we include parking in MaaS offerings? How do we optimize enforcement of parking regulations?

6 | Smart, safe and climate-adaptive urban mobility

Making cities and their sprawling suburbs future-proof requires a new, inspired involvement of citizens and companies, changes in governance models, and circular use of energy and raw materials. Matters such as climate adaptation, the use of digitization for safe and well-functioning, as well as healthy cities and the improvement of the urban ecosystem are important within this. How do we create sustainable urban plans and improve liveability in cities? How do we create zero emission and no-parking zones? How can we stimulate modal split and interconnecting multimodal ecosystems? How do we deploy new sustainable modes of transport
