Dr. Michiel van Ratingen (born 1966) is a leading figure in international vehicle safety assessment. He studied at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, earning MSc and PDEng degrees, and completed his PhD through Eindhoven University of Technology and the Medical University of Maastricht.
He began his career in 1995 at TNO Automotive, joining the Crash Safety Research and Development unit, where he contributed to advancements in vehicle crash performance and occupant protection. In 2005, he became Technical Director at First Technology Safety Systems (FTSS) in the U.S., overseeing global engineering activities. His responsibilities included the design and validation of crash test dummies, sensor technologies, and computational models used worldwide in automotive safety testing.
Since 2007, Dr. van Ratingen has served as Secretary General of the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) in Belgium. In this role, he has led significant updates to vehicle safety rating protocols, notably introducing and expanding crash avoidance technology testing, helping shift industry focus toward active safety and driver assistance systems.
He is a trustee of Global NCAP in the UK and technical consultant to Latin NCAP. His honours include the TNO Crash Safety Award, the Bertil Aldman Award, the U.S. Government Special Award of Appreciation and the Automotive Safety Council Pathfinder Award.

Christian Kleine is Manager Data Partnerships at HERE Technologies, where he leads initiatives on Open Data and Public-Private Cooperation with a strong focus on enabling Data for Road Safety (DFRS). His work centers on building scalable data exchange frameworks between public authorities and the private sector, including TN-ITS, DATEX II, and National Access Points, to improve the availability and quality of safety-relevant road data.
He is President of the TN-ITS Association, promoting trusted map update exchange with road operators, a Steering Board Member of the Open Auto Drive Forum (OADF), and an active member of the DFRS Technical Working Group, contributing to the definition and operationalization of safety-critical data for the automotive ecosystem.

Steve Callaghan is an engineer whose first disciplines are telecommunications and electronics; these have now been enhanced by post graduate qualifications in forensic engineering.  Steve has worked for Marconi twice and served 16 years in the Royal Navy as a Weapons Engineer in the submarine service. After retiring from the Royal Navy Steve directed a telecommunication training company, assisting its growth from 4 to 50 technical presenters as well as writing and presenting technical training courses.  Steve took an appointment at Cumbria Police where he managed the Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership for 5 years.  Steve introduced a Random Road Watch enforcement scheme in Cumbria during 2006 which assisted in the county achieving the Government’s 2010 casualty reduction targets for the area at the end of 2007.  Steve joined RSS at the end of 2007 as the Technical Support Manager where he designs and conducts the Type Approval Performance Testing for speed and red-light enforcement systems. Steve leads the ISO17025 accredited calibration laboratory at RSS that provides calibration and integrity testing of road traffic enforcement equipment in the Home Office Type Approval process. Recent unique achievements of the laboratory were to certify the calibration of a mobile speed enforcement radar while in motion, and the speed & distance accuracy of a hand-held close-following enforcement system. He is a technical advisor in approval, compliance and operational matters to national police and highways associations.

Steve Schneider is the Managing Director of ITS mobility. For more than 25 years, the company manages Germanys biggest network for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and profitably connects business and science to shape the mobility for future generations.
His career began as a computer scientist at the Fraunhofer IFF in Magdeburg, where he in charge of research projects in mobility and logistics. He was later responsible for IT projects in intralogistics in the automotive sector before he switched to ITS mobility in 2015. Here he accompanies and manages projects, initiatives and events in the field of intelligent transport systems. His main topics are intelligent infrastructures as well as automated and connected mobility solutions. Alberto is an Associate Partner in McKinsey & Company and core fellow of McKinsey European Transport, Logistics, and Infrastructure practice. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Crete in 2007, an M.Sc. degree in Business Economics, Finance, and Banking from the University of Portsmouth, and an M.Sc. degree in Service Engineering through a joint program involving the University of Crete (Greece), the University of Stuttgart (Germany), and Tilburg University (the Netherlands).

He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Technical University of Crete, where his research focuses on the design and development of AI-based intrusion detection systems, leveraging advanced machine learning models to analyse network traffic and detect malicious activity in complex, large-scale, and IoT-enabled environments.

Michael Nikowitz serves as the Coordinator for Automated Mobility at Austria’s Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI). In this role, he is responsible for national strategies and action plans on automated mobility. He currently leads the development of a new regulatory framework for automated driving in Austria.
He holds a Master of Science in Engineering (Mechatronics & Robotics and Laser Engineering) from the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Vienna.
Before joining the ministry, Michael spent several years in the automotive sector as a robotics engineer and laser scientist, specializing in ultrashort-pulse laser systems. He later joined the Austrian Association for Advanced Propulsion Systems (A3PS), where he represented Austria at the International Energy Agency and co-authored technology roadmaps and working groups on eco-mobility and automated driving.
Since 2016, he has coordinated the Ministry’s initiatives on cooperative, connected, and automated mobility.
Alongside his government responsibilities, Michael lectures at universities on topics such as automated mobility, robotics, and laser engineering. He is also an active author of technical papers and industry publications on hybrid and electric vehicles as well as automated-mobility solutions.

Laurens Tait is a Director of Arup in the Netherlands responsible for the Transport Market.     The theme that drives Laurens Tait’s work is the continuous development of our understanding of how design and policy influence the (mobility) choices that people make and the influence that these choices have on social / economic / ecological outcomes at architectural / masterplan / city / national scale.    Within that theme, and with more than 20 years working on mobility related projects, Laurens has developed a wealth of experience in a.o. In this role, he oversees the optimization of the entire port road network – including traffic signals, intersections, and bridges – to make the daily 12,000–14,000 truck movements more efficient, less congested, and lower in emissions.

Maaike was/is principal investigator in the NWO research programs Mobility DesAIgn Lab, XCARCITY (co-lead), SUMMALab, ToGRIP and STAD (co-lead) and lead scientist in several other large projects focusing on the development of a next generation of traffic and transport models and the development of interactive network design methods.
Her research focuses on impact assessment and design of multimodal transport systems with a special interest in the resilience of networks and the impact of new mobility concepts like automated vehicles and shared mobility. Maaike has a broad experience in the development and application of static and dynamic, strategic and real-time traffic transport models and optimization models for network design. For example, she developed the new mobility modeler to assess impacts of new mobility concepts, she developed an optimization and impact assessment model for robust road network design, she led a joint research project on activity based models, she oversaw the development of the first real-time waterway traffic model for the canals of Amsterdam and lead the development of prediction and smart routing models in the context of the ‘Praktijkproef’ (field trial) in Amsterdam. Maaike completed her PhD research about robust road network design in 2010 (Cum Laude) and completed her study Econometrics in 2003.

Dagmar currently works as project manager of ROMO (Road Monitor) on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water management. Jacqueline Erhart is a leading expert in the digitalisation of the transport sector. After studying Technical Physics at TU Wien, she began her career in the automotive industry at Robert Bosch, gaining strong international experience. At ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH, she led the team for cooperative, connected, and automated driving and served as spokesperson for ASECAP, the European toll operators’ association, where she helped shape international mobility policy.
As Secretary General of the Austrian Telematic Traffic Cluster (ATTC), she advances cooperation between infrastructure operators, industry, and research to drive innovation in telematics. Her leadership is further reflected in her role as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of AustriaTech GmbH, Austria’s competence centre for mobility transformation, and in her advisory board membership at AI startup Thinkers.AI since 2024.
In her current position as Head of ITS Vienna Region at VOR, she leads the digital transformation of the transport system in eastern Austria, implementing innovative solutions to enhance regional mobility.

Manuel is an economist with more than 15 years of experience in digital mobility platforms, combining software and hardware solutions to create scalable mobility ecosystems. Paul Chorus obtained a PhD in 2012 for his research “Station Area Developments in Tokyo and What the Randstad Can Learn from Them.” Since then, he has actively applied the insights from this research in his work for the Province of North Holland. He has been involved in several station area development projects across North Holland.
Based on his research, he introduced the corridor approach within the Province of North Holland. This approach takes an integrated view of individual nodes, focusing on how they can strengthen each other programmatically, with the province playing a coordinating role. Today, corridor-level collaboration is in place across five corridors throughout the province

Vries Strookman specializes and operates in drone-related matters for government, institutions and businesses. Since 2020, he has been active in the Dutch drone sector, as co-founder of Amsterdam Drone Lab. In that capacity, he contributes to drone policies, drone applications and public awareness and built on relations with a range of stakeholders, national and international businesses, as well as cities and regions associations. Vries recently co-founded SAMLab, a sustainable air mobility initiative with the goal to accelerate exchange of knowledge, expertise and skills between marine, maritime and urban drone applications. TRL is a world-renowned research, consultancy and software company, and owns the Smart Mobility Living Lab in London, a unique test and development centre based on public roads in a mega-city.
TRL started life as the UK Government’s Transport Research Laboratory and has been working to make transport safer, cleaner, more efficient and more accessible for everyone for 90 years.
Previously Paul was the CEO of the Transport Systems Catapult, a not-for-profit organisation created by the government as part of the catapult network to grow the UK economy by supporting the growth of innovation in transport systems.
Paul’s earlier career was spent in a wide variety of roles at IBM helping companies and industries to transform through the application of new technology. He has done professional, management and executive jobs at UK, European and Worldwide level in the UK, USA, France and Switzerland.

Joost Vantomme, Belgian national with 35 years of experience in legal and regulatory policy affairs, combined with a strong track record in strategy and project management is the CEO of ERTICO-ITS Europe (www.ertico.com).
He has served as Legal and Policy Director with incumbent operators in the telecommunications, postal, e-commerce/logistics, and automotive sectors. He has held leading policy-making roles in European associations such as PostEurop, FEDMA, and ACEA, as well as at the United Nations level (UPU). Joost has also been a member of the cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Economy and a Director at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, an EU consultancy firm. In addition, he is active in various expert groups of the European Commission and on advisory boards of EU-funded projects.
 
Before joining ERTICO in January 2022 as CEO, he served for more than five years as Smart Mobility Director at ACEA. Joost has held positions as Chair of the Strategy Committee of ERTICO-ITS Europe and as a member of its Supervisory Board. He also served as a Board Member and Vice President of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Alliance.
 
A frequent conference speaker and published author, he engages with stakeholders on European and international policy issues, as well as on research and innovation project management in the context of mobility and the digital agenda.
 
Fluent in Dutch, French, English, and German, Joost holds a Master’s degree in Economic and Business Law, a Master’s degree in Law, and a Diploma in Teaching Law (Universities of Leuven, Poitiers, and Louvain-la-Neuve). He has also completed additional education in economics, business, and management.

Mr. Wolfgang Domann brings over 20 years of experience from his previous management roles in building new businesses and sales of solution and product offerings. Due to his professional background, he is considered an expert in the field of applying AI and machine learning in business.
Furthermore, Mr. Domann has accumulated extensive national and international leadership and management experience in various markets, ranging from startups to corporate and large-scale clients. He has successfully implemented processes, from acquisition to contract closure, in international sales.
His experience in marketing and communication spans from branding, press, web, e-commerce, and online media to CXO presentations and hosting major customer events.
 
Mr. Domann is an entrepreneur and passionate about innovation, always open to new ideas and approaches.
