Delivering mobility policy through real-time adaptive signal control for safer, cleaner and efficient networks
Road authorities face the challenge of keeping cities accessible, safe and liveable while reducing emissions and serving all modes of transport. Mobility policy sets the direction, but traffic management is where policy must be translated into daily operation. This presentation shows how the Flowtack service enables road authorities to operationalise mobility policy through real-time adaptive traffic signal control. Flowtack predicts and optimises traffic flows by controlling intelligent traffic signals at local, corridor and network level, fully aligned with policy priorities. By combining existing detector data with connected-vehicle data, Flowtack already delivers value today, while being ready for a future with increasingly connected road users. Its generic, policy-driven approach allows authorities to
focus on what they want to achieve—such as prioritising cyclists, public transport, freight or emergency services— rather than on complex technical tuning. The result is continuous, 24/7 optimisation, smoother and safer traffic flows, lower emissions and effective implementation of mobility policy on the street.
