The UK has a directive to stop all pedestrian traffic on the Motorway, so signs on the highway that have their message changed manually now have to be controlled remotely. Ahead of the the vehicle weight check station, a VMS sign is implemented for lane direction. All heavy goods vehicles are instructed to only travel in lane 1, in order to make it easy to instruct a selected vehicle to enter the weigh bridge station ahead.
