It’s called Safedrive, and it’s the new speed camera installed on an experimental basis in Figline along SR69. Many drivers have wondered what it is and what it’s for. This device is equipped with a series of advanced features that allow it to detect violations related to the use of mobile phones and the failure to wear seat belts. The violation is reported through a photo that is sent to the Municipal Police. We asked for more details from the Commander of the Municipal Police of Figline, Alessandro Belardi.
“This is new equipment for which the municipality of Figline was chosen as a test site, and this command is currently testing it. It comes from a well-known Italian company, Sodi, the one that produces speed cameras. Before marketing this device, the company selected two municipalities in Italy, Prato and Figline Valdarno, for testing. So, it’s essentially a camera used to assess vehicles in transit.”
How does it work? What does it check? What does it report? “It’s a device equipped with onboard artificial intelligence that can identify and highlight vehicles whose drivers are using a mobile phone or have not fastened their seat belts. It requires certain functional characteristics of the road and dimensions. It’s a tool that aims to further enhance road safety because failing to use a seat belt and distraction caused by mobile phones are always sources of accidents. And this command, together with the municipality of Figline, has always been attentive to these aspects of road safety.”

AX 106 Vision is integrated with the new ‘Free Flow’ license plate reading feature, which allows for the recognition of intercepted vehicle license plates and the subsequent query for checking possible infractions of absence of insurance and/or revision, and presence in the black-lists or white-lists.

Is the only speedmeter on the market operating, without modifications or adaptation in three different positions: tripod, patrol car and roadside box.

The Autovelox 106 SE Laser Speed Camera, designed for pole or gantry mounting, features a high-quality video camera with an automatic IR filter removal system for color photos during the day and black-and-white photos at night.
