Safety systems for pedestrian crossing consist of at least two variable message signs which are activated when pedestrians or vehicles approach. They are equipped with a pedestrian movement sensor or Doppler radar. This safety system warns drivers that the pedestrian is going to cross the street. Drivers are warned to adjust speed and stop safely in front of the pedestrian crossing.
