This case study highlights the implementation of a certified voice evacuation and public address system in the Żeleźnica Tunnel on the Struma Motorway, Bulgaria’s longest road tunnel. The project features 4 PAVA racks in 2 amplification rooms, 194 loudspeaker lines, 82 high-power ABT-TNL100 tunnel speakers, and 24 ABT-T2430 horn speakers for escape routes, delivering a total of 9000 W. The system ensures clear emergency communication and integrates with advanced tunnel infrastructure.

TRVT aimed to implement advanced, remotely managed and monitored PAVA (Public Address and Voice Alarm) solutions, integrating automatic sound level control and seamless SNMP-based integration with their control platform. Ambient System delivered a comprehensive solution under a long-term framework agreement, including EN54-certified, climate-resistant loudspeakers (customized for the harsh Swedish climate and platform environments), intelligent amplifier modules for platform displays, and the smartVES PAVA system. Key features included intelligent sound level control to optimize message clarity for passengers and reduce noise for residents, self-testing SPL/STI using smartVES sensors for remote diagnostics, and the ICO MAM amplifier module supporting platform displays and clocks. The project milestones spanned from technical proposal development and acoustic simulations in 2023, through factory acceptance testing and initial orders in 2024, to successful client acceptance in 2025. An example installation at Linköping railway station included adaptive noise sensing microphones, a control unit, an audio processor, 129 loudspeakers, and 24 speaker lines, all focused on calibration, reporting, and noise minimization.

The ICO EMERGENCY S02 is a wall-mounted IP intercom with a handset, designed for use in tunnels, evacuation points and heavy industry. It features a vandal-resistant IK09/IP65 housing, ensuring durability in harsh environments. The device supports PoE or 12V DC power, offers automatic connection when the handset is lifted, and integrates with external systems via 3 relays and 6 GPIO. Advanced DSP ensures clear communication even in high noise.
