Intertraffic accelerates connections at the third edition of Intertraffic Mexico

Friday, 9 November 2018

The third edition of Intertraffic Mexico is set to highlight best practices from the traffic technology and mobility industry from 13 – 15 November 2018 at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City. Close to 130 exhibiting companies will present their innovations and integrated solutions in infrastructure, traffic management, smart mobility, road safety and parking. At the conference programme national and international speakers focus on today’s and tomorrow’s mobility challenges. The Intertraffic Award Latin America will be presented to the most innovative solution.

Last Wednesday renowned industry professionals gathered to kick off the exhibition with a panel discussion on the importance of mobility to improve the quality of life of citizens and to create a livable and sustainable environment.

José Navarro Meneses, General Director of Tarsus México, Laura Barrera, Director of Intertraffic Mexico Tarsus; Mtro. Bernardo Baranda Sepúlveda, Latin America Regional Director of the Institute for Transportation and Development Policies (ITDP); and Lic. Nicolás Rosales Pallares, Institutional Liaison Coordinator of the Mexican Association of Transportation and Mobility, were just some of the panel attendees.

During his presentation José Navarro stressed "In the coming years, cities must overcome challenges to create a livable and sustainable environment, where mobility plays a fundamental role. In 2050 70% of the population will live in cities and demand efficient public transport, better roads, as well as products, systems, services, technology and solutions for a better performance of people, institutions and companies.

In light of this, cities and municipalities demand more intelligent mobility systems and Intertraffic Mexico helps solve present and future challenges.”

Over 4,000 professionals from the industry are expected to attend Intertraffic Mexico 2018 to establish strategic business relationships and explore distribution channels. The event serves as a platform for collaborations between governments, research institutes and private companies in order to achieve efficient, sustainable and healthy mobility for citizens.

The conference programme includes 20 high-level presentations given by national and international experts. Cristopher Zegras, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will talk about how to incorporate citizenship in urban transport planning and the implications of autonomous mobility for urban planning. Mark van Kerkhof, Managing Consultant smart and green mobility, APPM Management Consultants, will show the Dutch approach in electromoblility.

The VIP session by Leonardo Vásquez, Project Manager of Fanalca - Transdev Colombia, is about the operation of massive fleets of electric buses; the perspective of an international operator, the strategic differences of diesel and electric technology, and the challenges, advantages and complexities of technological change will be shared.

Laura Barrera, Tarsus’ Director of Intertraffic Mexico, mentioned "At our event we aim to recognize companies and organizations that contribute actively in facing the mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. We want to highlight innovative projects in the industry which is why we hold the second edition of the Intertraffic Award Latin America.”

The three nominated projects are the smart mobility service Livink by the Mexican company Autotraffic, EcoTrafiX ™, a comprehensive mobility management system for the autonomous city of Buenos Aires by Kapsch and COMPARE beyond by ALPR by the Brazilian company PUMATRONIX.

The award ceremony takes place at the official opening of Intertraffic Mexico on November 13th at 12pm at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City.
