Working with technology for traffic and human mobility in Brazil is a mission filled with challenges. In the first place, it is important to explain the origin of the term 'human mobility', since urban mobility is spoken worldwide.
The Brazilian movements that seek to contribute to the construction of safer and more technologically traffic, consequently more intelligent, understand that the displacement, be it in the cities or in the rural regions, is done by people and for people. Therefore, the human being is the centre of everything. For this reason, led by the Mobih Institute, public and private initiatives have adopted the term 'human mobility'.
The reflection on how technology can contribute to the transformation of urban centres into true smart cities is directly linked to an urgent need for Brazil: to reduce the number of deaths and traffic accidents. Today, about 40,000 Brazilians lose their lives, mainly due to the misconduct of drivers.
For this reason, Brazilian companies focused on the development of technology for traffic are increasingly looking at the world and deepening in trends that can transform cities in a safer environment.
And one of the best ways to get in touch with worldwide cases, companies and innovative initiatives is participation in events like Intertraffic, which I first visited in November 2017 in Mexico City.
Since then, my involvement as a communication and marketing professional in the traffic segment, in addition to Tecnowise Group, which is the main holding company of technology for human mobility in Brazil, only increased! I was at the Amsterdam edition in March 2018 and in Jakarta in November of the same year.
At the same time, innovative initiatives that seek to train better drivers were implemented in Brazil, achieving significant results and including technology as the protagonist of the processes. This is the case of simulators of vehicular direction, which are now part of the course to obtain the license to drive. The students go through classes experiencing the equipment and various adverse situations that could not be safely exposed on the streets.
Other technological innovations - already successful worldwide - have recently arrived in Brazil, such as the sharing of bicycles and electric scooters. This innovation has contributed, for example, to minimize the constant congestion of the city of São Paulo. The metropolis - one of the largest in the world - has the second largest fleet of vehicles on the planet and often requires alternative transportation.
The scenario for innovation and investments in technology for traffic, mobility and infrastructure has been increasingly positive in recent years. In a country of continental dimensions such as Brazil, technological innovation is an indispensable engine for evolution.
