A supersonic “flying train” could soon be a reality in China

China is aiming to build the newest competition of Hyperloop. China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), the country’s state-run space contractor, has started to research the possibilities of a “high-speed flying train”. It should reach top speeds of 4,000 km p/h. That’s 10 times faster than the current world’s fastest bullet train, four times faster than commercial flights and over three times the speed of sound (1,225 km/h)! The design of the flying train is similar to the Hyperloop. They’re using passenger pods that use magnetic levitation and travel through a near-vacuum tube. The Chinese claim that their design is the first in the world for supersonic speed, starting with top speeds of 1,000 km/h.
