Recent European 'U-Space' legislation on enabling integrated airspace management for safe and efficient drone operations opens the doors for integrating mobility management capabilities on the ground with airspace management capabilities in the lower airspace. Although involvement of cities and road operators is assumed, there are still many pathways in which this involvement could be organized and technically implemented.
Technolution proposes building on the existing foundation of ITS and dynamic traffic management capabilities that these stakeholders already have on the ground, and extending this with capabilities to publish digital policies on drone flight operations to U-Space airspace actors such as air traffic management (ATM) organizations and U-Space Service Providers (USSPs).
In this session Technolution shares this roadmap on what local authorities could gain and how to organize this, as well as an initial technical implementation on how mobility management and U-space management could easily be integrated.
