This session will explore how European road authorities and industry are improving safety performance in work zones through better planning, innovative traffic management, digital tools, and harmonised practices. Drawing on recent research, operational experience, and cross-border collaboration, the panel will discuss what works in practice, how risks can be reduced, and how safety can be embedded throughout the lifecycle of road works. The session will also reflect on the role of data, guidance, and procurement in supporting safer work zones.</p>
